Murals & Public Spaces

Murals can transform forgotten public spaces. They can brighten a space, share its history, provide some humor, make you think, or even just give you an excuse to exchange a word with a new or old friend.

Latrobe Longhouse

Long neglected and avoided, the historic Longhouse was transformed into a welcoming and colorful focal point that celebrates the Locust Point neighborhood’s maritime and industrial history.

A community-wide event kicked off the mural, giving residents—young and old—ownership over the space. The change has been wonderful to see; the pavilion is now a regular site to birthday parties and other gatherings.
